THE FINAL PHOTO
Our Lumen Sticks are powerful and at the same time completely mobile LED lamps, with which you can easily illuminate various subjects impressively. This gives your pictures an absolutely creative component.
But why mobile? And why creative? The answer: The sticks are battery-powered and their LEDs also light up in RGB. This way you can give the object of your photographic desire a beautifully colored touch - but it doesn't stop there. Because as a photographer, you can even achieve bombastic black light effects, as the photographer couple André Düxmann (Instagram: @djamd) and Janine Gwinner (Instagram: @lost140601) have shown with truly impressive pictures.

DISCO LOOK FOR THE STUDIO AND ON THE GO
Model for this shoot was Lorena Bjelic (Instagram: @loreeniya), with the makeup on her face reminiscent of an evening at the club where one or two tubes of fluorescent makeup were also involved. In reality, however, it was of course completely different and possible with very simple means, as André and Janine explain to us. And so that you can easily reshoot it, they have explained to us in detail how the shoot went and what they needed for it.

As André explains, less effort was needed for the final photo than previously thought. He says: "We originally wanted to photograph with a black light lamp, but it even worked with the sticks without black light. Because with the help of the sticks, the color already glowed so strongly on the skin that we didn't need the lamp anymore. You can even see that on the model's skin. And operating the sticks with the app was totally easy."
V-FLAT REFLECTORS
When working with fluorescent makeup, it is of course particularly important to keep disturbing light sources or reflections out of the picture. That's why André and Janine opted for V-flat reflectors. On one side they are coated brightly to reflect light, on the other side darkly to absorb light. Depending on the desired use. The latter was desired in this case to give the luminous color all the space it needs to look truly impressive.
LUMEN STICKS
The photographer couple then placed our Lumen Sticks for even illumination to the left and right of model Lorena. Our sticks offer equal parts white light (87 LEDs), warm light (87 LEDs) and RGB (90 LEDs), as well as a color temperature between 3200 and 9999 Kelvin. But they do not have ultraviolet LEDs, which would actually be necessary for black light effects. A dark blue that tends towards violet, however, is possible - and that was sufficient for the effect.
FLUORESCENT MAKEUP
For this effect, colored makeup is important, which can be bought online, for example. Important: It should not be normal makeup, but UV makeup. Because extra luminous color pigments are added to this color during production, which are then activated by the light.
CONTROLLING THE LUMEN STICKS WITH A SMARTPHONE APP
You can set our Lumen Sticks manually on the device, or with the Rollei Lumen App. This allows you to easily set colors, intensities and gradients with your smartphone, without having to put down your camera.
