Rollei is expanding its VAF lens series and launching two new focal lengths: the Rollei AF 24 mm F/1.8 and the Rollei AF 35 mm F/1.8 – each for Sony FE and Nikon Z-Mount. Following the successful launch of the portrait lens with an 85 millimeter focal length, which was met with outstanding response from photographers, Rollei is now completing the range with wide-angle and reportage optics for the highest demands.
Both lenses impress with F/1.8 aperture, STM autofocus, HFT-X coating, premium full-metal craftsmanship and feature a new logo design.
Norderstedt, 28.01.2026. Rollei is expanding its VAF series and launching two new lenses: the Rollei AF 24 mm F/1.8 for wide-angle shots and the Rollei AF 35 mm F/1.8 as a versatile reportage focal length. Both lenses are now available for Sony FE-Mount and Nikon Z-Mount.
The launch of the first Rollei lens, the AF 85 mm F/1.8, was met with positive feedback from professional photographers and enthusiasts. The combination of high image quality, precise autofocus, and robust craftsmanship at a fair price was entirely convincing. With the new focal lengths, Rollei is now specifically expanding the VAF series with two popular focal lengths – covering the spectrum from landscape to reportage to portrait.
24 Millimeter Wide-Angle: Ideal for Landscape, Architecture & Astro
The Rollei AF 24 mm F/1.8 is the perfect choice for wide-angle photographers who value luminosity and image quality. The F/1.8 aperture with 11 blades creates a creamy, perfectly round bokeh – even at open aperture, the image remains sharp and rich in contrast. The high-quality optics consist of 14 elements in 11 groups, including 4 ED, 2 HR, and 2 AS lenses, which minimize aberrations and ensure high sharpness to the edges.
The HFT-X coating effectively reduces ghosting and flare, while the fast and quiet STM autofocus with face and eye-tracking is optimized for both photo and video. The full-metal housing weighs only about 480 grams despite its robust construction. The Sony FE version also features a linear aperture ring for stepless, silent aperture changes in video.
With a minimum focusing distance of 0.32 meters, the 24 millimeter is also suitable for detailed close-ups. The 62-millimeter filter thread makes it compatible with all common ND and effect filters. Thanks to the USB-C firmware port, updates can be installed in just 30 seconds.
35 Millimeter: Versatile for Documentation, Everyday & Portrait
The Rollei AF 35 mm F/1.8 is the classic reportage focal length, enabling particularly authentic shots due to its proximity to the natural viewing angle. Whether street photography, documentation, or portraits with creative subject isolation – the F/1.8 aperture with 11 blades delivers round, creamy bokeh and excellent sharpness at open aperture.
The optics consist of 11 elements in 8 groups with 7 ED, 2 HR, and 2 AS lenses for minimal chromatic aberrations and high resolution across the entire image field. The STM autofocus works quickly, precisely, and almost silently – ideal for video and discreet photography.
The robust full-metal housing weighs only about 490 grams, while the HFT-X coating ensures contrast-rich, color-accurate images. With a minimum focusing distance of 0.40 meters, details and close-ups can also be captured impressively. Here too, the Sony FE version features a linear aperture ring for video-friendly aperture control.
Intuitive operation is provided by the AF/MF switch, the freely assignable FN button, and the 62-millimeter filter thread. Firmware updates are quick and straightforward via the USB-C port.
Precision to Detail: VAF Series with New Logo
Customer feedback on the Rollei 85 mm F/1.8 expressed a desire for a more understated logo. Rollei has taken this feedback seriously and is therefore pleased to present a revised logo along with the two new focal lengths: contemporary, understated, and with clear, modern design language. The new logo underlines the professional claim of the VAF series without distracting from the essential – the optics.
The Rollei AF 24 mm F/1.8 and the Rollei AF 35 mm F/1.8 are now available for Sony FE-Mount and Nikon Z-Mount at an introductory price of 299 Euros (RRP 349 Euros) in the Rollei online shop at www.rollei.de/rollei-objektive.
