The Viltrox EF-E5 Adapter – the little extra with fantastic possibilities
Technologies are constantly evolving. What is new today may already be obsolete tomorrow. Especially in photography, not only the different brands, but also the respective camera types, accessories and equipment available compete daily.
The further development of system cameras, which relies on a wide range of interchangeable lenses, always encounters a major problem: The cameras use different lens mounts. Thus, a change of brand was hardly possible. The solution is: lens adapters.
Features and construction of the Viltrox EF-E5 camera lens mount adapter
The compact Viltrox EF-E5 camera lens adapter is made of aluminum with an alloy for high durability and is lightweight at 158 grams. The high-quality camera equipment is very well made and lies comfortably in the hand.
The OLED screen allows convenient tracking and operation of the display parameters focal length, aperture, adapter mode, and debug mode. The high-quality lens adapter supports the selection of PDAF and CDAF autofocus detection via a C/P switch. While Contrast Detection Auto Focus (CDAF) uses contrast edges as an indicator for image sharpness, the far more modern Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) uses the phases of light waves for sharpness adjustment. This allows the focus motor to follow even fast movements in real time.
In addition to a very good camera/lens transfer speed, which is ensured by gold-plated electronic contacts, the adapter is also equipped with a USB port. This allows for easy and quick firmware updates. The integrated tripod mount can also be detached for an even smaller pack size. Overall, the Viltrox EF-E5 camera lens adapter is a robust camera accessory that enables the use of Canon lenses on mirrorless Sony system cameras with an E-mount lens connection. This allows photographers to continue using even old lenses when changing cameras or systems. This is indispensable, especially in fine art and photographic art.
